Übersicht
1.1 Anwendbar für die Prüfung der thermischen Schutzleistung von einschichtigen oder mehrschichtigen Materialien, die in Schutzkleidung verwendet werden, die konvektiven und strahlenden Hitzebefahren ausgesetzt sind. Nicht geeignet für nicht brennbare Materialien oder solche, die anfällig für Schmelzen / Tropfen bei hohen Temperaturen sind.
1.2 Konstruktionsprinzip:
a. Horizontal placement of flame-retardant samples under combined convective/radiant heat sources
b. Exposure time recorded when transmitted heat equals second-degree burn threshold
c. Direct contact simulation (0mm gap) vs spaced contact (6.5mm gap)
d. Thermal protection value (TPP) calculation: Intersection of heat flux-time curve with Stoll curve
e. Stoll curve: Standard curve relating burn time to energy exposure – values above curve indicate risk of second-degree burns
